Part of a seasonal team of around 80 people at Latchi Watersports, I quickly grew into an experienced member of the team, building boat handling skills across a busy rental fleet, working both on the water and in the harbour throughout the season.

Key responsibilities:

• Cleaned and maintained boats across a 40-vessel rental fleet, ranging from 60hp to 250hp;
• Briefed customers on safety, boat handling, and coastal navigation before taking out rentals;
• Safely piloted customer boats in and out of the harbour, demonstrating skilled boat handling in confined spaces;
• Operated the safety boat in busy bays, assisting boat drivers with anchoring and preventing collisions and reef damage.

As part of the ferry operations team, I helped ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for thousands of daily visitors to Rottnest Island during the busy summer season.

Key responsibilities:

• Managed boarding logistics for up to 3,000 passengers per day, including ticket scanning and queue organization;
• Oversaw daily bike rental logistics on the island, including distribution, returns, and basic maintenance checks;
• Assisted the onboard café team with service tasks during peak sailings;
• Collaborated with crew and ground staff to maintain timely, safe, and efficient ferry operations.

During my volunteer-based traineeship at Yongala Dive, I worked in a small team of only three people and played a crucial role in ensuring the smooth daily operations of the dive boat at one of Australia's most renowned advanced dive sites (up to 30m depth with frequent strong currents).

Key responsibilities:

• Managed logistical tasks, including filling dive tanks and preparing lunch for guests;
• Conducted dive and safety briefings to inform and guide divers;
• Assisted in mooring the boat safely at dive sites;
• Guided dives, ensuring a safe and enjoyable underwater experience for all guests.
